Academic Success Coaching at DKU helps students succeed by helping them identify academic strengths and needs, working with them to determine an achievable plan to overcome any identified barriers, and providing the tools to properly balance their academic life and develop effective study habits. This can be done through one or a series of 1-on-1 meetings with professional staff depending on which academic and general skills the student needs.

Academic Success Coaches are professional staff members from the Office of Undergraduate Advising holding at least a graduate degree. Coaches have backgrounds in Natural & Applied Sciences, Social Science, and/or Arts & Humanities with experience working with different types of college students. 

All Academic Success Coaches provide students with academic support on following topics. 

  • Time Management – Better time management skills help you study smarter, not harder. Academic coaches can help you prioritize effectively, get more focused and free up more of your valuable time.
  • Active Study – In order to have the knowledge stick in your mind, you have to actively learning it. Academic coach can help you with effective test preparation, note taking and learning strategy in general.
  • Stress Management – Enjoy the learning process is important. Academic coach can help you with identify stressors and reflect on how to relax and reduce stress.
