Hello and welcome to DKU! My name is Yi Ru (meaning ‘best wishes’ in Chinese), but you can call me Raya. I’m a rising sophomore from Jiaxing, Zhejiang.
At DKU, I’m currently exploring the major Computation and Design, between the tracks of digital media and social policy. I’m especially interested in how creative design, modeling, and storytelling can help us better understand culture and support meaningful social changes.
Outside of academics, music is a big part of my life. I’m the lead vocalist in our band, I play the piano, and I’m also a huge fan of musicals. I love watching cartoons, movies and TV shows in my spare time as well. When I’m not immersed in music or stories, I might be traveling and organizing energetic, fun-filled trips with friends! If you’re looking for a travel buddy who plans with enthusiasm and never runs out of energy, I’m your person;) A fun fact about me: although I can’t handle horror movies at all, I’m not afraid of roller coasters AT ALL. When I was in third grade, I rode the world’s fastest coaster in Abu Dhabi—alone, and in the front row!
